The Ramayana and Mahabharata have been the cherished

heritage of the whole Hindu world for the last several

thousands of years and form the basis of their thoughts

and of their moral and ethical ideas. In fact, the Ramayana

and Mahabharata are the two  encyclopaedias of the ancient

of the ancient Aryan life and wisdom, portraying an ideal

civilization which humanity has yet to aspire after.


Now, the ideal woman in India is the mother, the mother first, and the mother last. The word woman calls up to the mind of the Hindu, motherhood; and God is called Mother.

       In the West, the woman is wife. The idea of womanhood is concentrated in motherhood. In the Western home, the wife rules. In an Indian home, the mother rules.
